Lisbon Tech Company Donates Fleet of 5 Vehicles

In what has become the single largest vehicle donation in Agricola NGO's history, Lisbon-based agri-tech startup EcoFarm Technologies handed over a fleet of five Toyota Hilux pickup trucks in December 2024 — each destined for a farming family in a different Portuguese region.

A Historic Handover

The handover ceremony took place at EcoFarm's Parque das Nações campus in Lisbon, attended by representatives from the five receiving families, Agricola's board, and local media. The event marked not only a landmark donation but also a new model for corporate philanthropy in Portugal's agricultural sector.

The Receiving Families

Each of the five vehicles was matched to a farming family identified by Agricola's community liaison team based on proven need and potential impact. Selection criteria included farm viability, family composition, and distance from key markets or services.

Among the recipients was the Ribatejo-based Carvalho family, who had been transporting greenhouse produce in a borrowed car for three years. With the Hilux, they can now reach three weekly markets and transport bulk orders directly to a Santarém wholesaler.

A New Model for Corporate Giving

EcoFarm's donation is part of a broader trend of Portuguese tech companies directing corporate social responsibility funds toward rural and agricultural communities. Agricola is now in discussions with two other Lisbon-based firms about similar fleet donations in 2025.
